BIO

James Gallagher uses collage to investigate human form and personal identity. Gallagher’s work has hung in galleries around the world and he has curated international collage exhibitions in New York City, Berlin, and Cork County, Ireland. His art has been featured in publications such as Elephant, Juxtapoz, and Kolaj Magazines; The Paris Review, The New York Times and Communication Arts; and was featured in the HBO Docuseries Sex Diaries and Shoppe Object 2024. He is the co-editor of Gestalten’s Cutting Edges: The Art of Contemporary Collage and was the publisher, editor and creative director of the contemporary art magazine Secret Behavior. Gallagher earned a BFA from The School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he lives with his wife and three children.
